Phnom Penh, October 21, 2015: Following from the previous meeting of the National Corporation Social Responsibility (CSR) Platform, 42 participants from NGOs and private sector, came together once again for the half day meeting to discuss on several agendas such as to reflect on CSR Training by CSR Asia, to select the Steering Committee of the Platform, to decide on next plan of activities and lastly to seed for an agreement on platform secretariat.
The meeting started with the welcome note addressed by Mr. Eing Sotheara, Director of Green Eagle Company followed by the presentation on lesson learned from the visit to Green Eagle and Mong Rethy Group and experience from study visit to China and Chinese investment in Cambodia that provided by Dr. Tek Vannara, NGO Forum on Cambodia’s Executive Director.
In the next agenda, the members agreed that the Steering Committee, which have been selected, will meet once a month to discuss the plan and progress of the platform. Oxfam will provide the Secretarial support on that Green Eagle, Practices, NGOF, Transparency International Cambodia and EZECOM.
Final remarks of the day was made by Mr. Sok Khim, Acting Country Director of Oxfam. He mentioned that Oxfam has put the seed of CSR thinking in Cambodia and the Platform members should flourish this knowledge and information to all. The next meeting will be in 4 December 2015, and the facilitator would send out information to all once the agenda is fixed.
