The 4 Dialogue Meeting between NGO Forum and Media on Budget Transparency in Cambodia

Media has played important role to ensure government provides quality of public services for citizens. On 15 June 2017, meeting organized for increase media persons understanding on the budget transparency that has been implemented by the NGO Forum on Cambodia. In addition, the meeting also would like to collect the feedback from all participants regarding to cooperation with the NGO Forum on Cambodia. What areas should The NGO Forum on Cambodia improved to ensure message/ text on budget transparency, public financial reform, national strategic plan are interested and reported by all medias such as TV, radio, newspaper…etc. In addition, the objective of the meeting is also would like to seek comments on areas /topics that media are interested in, thus the NGO Forum on Cambodia can improved her performance to be more effective in working with media.

Forum on Roles of Youth in Budgetary Process 1

On 15 June 2017, the National Budget Project (NBP) of the NGO Forum on Cambodia (NGOF), with Budget Working Group (BWG) to organize Forum on ”Roles of Youth in Budgetary Process”. There are over 200 participants to join this forum at Tonle Basac 2 restuarant. The forum aim to increase knowledge and understanding of young people on budget process and budget transparency, as well as budget formulation process at national level. Furthermore, to encourage youth participation for contribution in budgeting process youth space in budgetary process where and how youth involve in budgeting process.

Consultation Meeting on PNPCA and Pak Beng Hydropower Development Project in Lao PDR 1

On the 14th of June 2017 at Tonle Bassac II Restaurant, Phnom Penh, Cambodia: the NGO Forum on Cambodia (NGOF) and the Rivers Coalition in Cambodia (RCC) co-organized a consultation meeting with representatives from the Tonle Sap Lake and the Mekong River, youth movement groups and other civil society organizations (CSOs) in order to develop a joint statement on CSOs’ concern with the Pak Beng hydropower dam development project in Lao and the procedure for notification, prior consultation and agreement. A total of 56 people attended the meeting.

Consultation Meeting with Development Partners and Donors on Pak Beng Hydropower Development Project in Lao PDR 1

On 01st – 02nd June 2017, the NGO Forum on Cambodia (NGOF), Rivers Coalition in Cambodia (RCC) and Save the Mekong members, and Oxfam delegates from Thailand and Vietnam co-organized a consultation meeting with development partners and donors in Lao PDR (including representatives from the Embassy of Switzerland, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Agence Française de Développement, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the Mekong River Commission-GIZ Cooperation Programme). The aim of the meeting was to discuss the MRC’s standing position on the PNPCA process, Mekong Water Governance, CSOs and affected communities’ concerns about hydropower development projects along the Mekong River, especially in riparian countries such as Cambodia and Vietnam in the Lower Mekong region, where the Pak Beng dam, which has been approved by Lao PDR, and other proposed hydropower projects will have tremendous negative impacts.

Advocacy strategy on climate change policy influence into CDP/CIP was initiated by NGOF and Southern Voice on Adaptation in order to find the best strategy for NECA members to work at both national and sub-national for influencing the CCA consideration and implementation in the commune level where is the CC prone area. During the consultation workshop at the end of 2015; we had been selecting 12 CSO members in 32 commune target area for initial step.

Consultation Meeting on Zoning Gridline of Protected Area Management 1

On 26 May 2017: Indigenous Peoples and Forestry Network (IPFN) of the NGO Forum on Cambodia (NGOF) organize draft of zoning guideline of protected Areas (PA) which held at Our Village Restaurant. There are 20 NGOs/CSOs which consist of 32 participants to join for comment and input on the draft of zoning guideline for Ministry of Environment. Consequently, the draft of zoning guideline has developed two languages both Khmer and English. Guidelines are crucial to ensure that Cambodia's vast protected areas are effectively managed and protect to support and enhance ecosystem functions, and thereby increasing ecosystem services for supporting agricultural cultivation and sustaining long-term economic development for the long-term benefits for future generations. At the end of meeting and concluded results of meeting, these guidelines will bring further discussion on 06-07 June 2017 for national workshop which organize by Ministry of Environment.
