13. Asia Pacific Workshop on Fiscal Openness Working Group

Philippines, September 17 – 18, 2015: Eighty representatives of the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and the Ministry of the Economy and Finance from Asia Pacific (AP) region such as Philippines, Indonesia, Mongolia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Myanmar, and International representatives from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Asian Development Banks (ADB), Global Initiative for Fiscal Transparency (GIFT) and International budget Partnership (IBP) were invited to the AP Workshop on Fiscal Openness Working Group of The Open Government Partnership in Manila.

This workshop was conducted in order to provide learning experiences from different Countries’ experiences in implementing fiscal transparency and participation, survey the challenges and capacity building needs of governments and CSOs, and lastly, to promote Open Government Partnership (OGP) and GIFT in the Asia-Pacific region.
Ms. Kim Nay, Develop Issue Program’s Manager of NGOF claimed that this workshop is a part of working group efforts to enable peer-to-peer learning to advance the agenda for transparency and participation in fiscal policies around the world. In addition, this workshop has also featured the launch of the Open Budget Survey 2015 in the region to all the attendees.
This event was co-organized between OGP, GIFT and two lead stewards, comprised of the Philippines Department Budget Management (DBM) and IBP.
