1st Regional Conference on Land and Natural Resources Governance

The NGO Forum on Cambodia (NGOF) co-organized with 54 national and international NGOs to host 1st Regional Conference on Land and Natural Resources Governance on 11 August 2020 at Somadevi Hotel, Siem Reap Province. There are 250 participants who respectful venerable Bun Salut, Sang Rokhavorn Wildlife Sanctuary, Oddor Meanchey Province, H.E Pov Savoeun, Member of the Investigation and Anti-Corruption Commission of National Assembly of Siem Reap Province, Governor from Oddor Meanchey Province, Stung Treng Province, Kampong Thom Province, Mondolkiri Province and Ratanakiri Province. Representative of the Director of the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Department of Rural Development, Department of Environment, Department of Land Management, Urban Planning, Construction, Department of Culture and Fine Arts, Mr. Nut Yuthy, Representative of NPA in Cambodia, Representative of sub-national, Representatives of development partners, national and international NGOs and University.

Welcome remarks by Dr. Tek Vannara, Executive Director of NGOF, said that this conference is an important event which we co-organized with national and international NGOs as well as representatives of land communities, communities forestry (CF), community in protected areas (CPA), community fishing, indigenous peoples communities, NGOs, national and sub-national administrations, development partners, private companies and research institutions to provide opportunities to meet and learn from each other, increase cooperation, share information and constructive feedback. At the same time, we will have a better understanding of the achievements, successes, challenges and concerns, suggestions and recommendations into the draft law, national policy, national strategic development plan and implementation. With high responsibility and achievement are more successful results as intended and expected.

Opening Remarks by Her Excellency Pov Savoeun, Member of the Investigation and Anti-Corruption Commission of National Assembly at the Regional Conference on “Land and Natural Resources Governance”. Cambodia has been preparing a strategic plan for the development of smart and green cities and national economic development to accelerate to achieve the objectives and results as stated in the National Development Plan 2018-2023 towards Cambodia Sustainable Development Goals. Take the opportunity of this conference to share informative of collective voices, experiences and raise straight forward on the issues raised by all stakeholders, and the constructive way in providing key input for the National Assembly, the Royal Government of Cambodia, national and sub-national authorities and development partners to continue to implement.
